A recent article by the Safety Institute of Australia (SIA) highlights the need for boards to change their approach when it comes to measuring safety performance.
“We need new ways of thinking about the future and visualising what we do want with everyone living safely at work, home and play, not on zero harm. It’s about the choices we make.”
It places the focus on creating a culture of safe behaviour in which employees are empowered to speak up against unsafe acts and to lead the safety performance of the organisation.
“The continual improvement of an organisation’s sustainability systems and strategy, in conjunction with the organisation’s leadership and culture, will enable transformational results in WHS and sustainability.”
