Their challenge

Since 2008 Actrua have partnered with this company to deliver Zero Harm safety leadership workshops to leaders and frontline employees. Following a demerger in 2013, the company expressed an interest in taking the Zero Harm program internal; allowing for increased ownership of safety and greater delivery flexibility.

Our solution

We developed a licensing agreement in which internally accredited facilitators delivered our Zero Harm workshops. Our workshops are hard-hitting, belief oriented safety programs that target the hearts and minds of participants, changing the way they think and feel about safety at work and at home.

Since internal delivery began in 2013 more than 1200 participants across Australia and New Zealand have undertaken the workshops and the company’s safety performance has gone from strength to strength. The concepts and language used in the programs resonate across all organisational levels and the company has fully embedded them into the daily work practices of the business ensuring a sustainable safety performance culture.

The result

In 2013 when internal delivery commenced, the company’s Recordable Case Frequency Rate was 15.6. By 2014 it had dropped to 14.1 and in 2015 it was 6.2, the lowest rate ever recorded and with the company well on their way to achieving their best practice benchmark of 5.

“The single biggest opportunity for behavioural change taken from the Zero Harm training was around the quality and consistency of communication. With this in mind we developed a communication hub prior to accessing the production area. This area has a strong emphasis on the terminology introduced during the Zero Harm workshops and the fact we need to switch on prior to commencing our duties.” – Site Manager
